Dubai, which is the commercial capital of the UAE, is one of the leading international tourism spots in the world. Dubai continues to excel in the rankings as top destination, and has been included in the Trip Advisor’s Travelers’ Choice Destinations 2020. It was the only destination in the UAE that made into the top 25.
Dubai is a futuristic cityscape towering over the Arabian Desert. This cosmopolitan city is home to world’s tallest building, largest dancing fountain, largest natural flower garden, and largest artificial islands. It is world’ 4th most visited city after London, Paris, and Bangkok.
The numbers of tourists visiting Dubai are increasing significantly. According to the Dubai’s Tourism Department, the number of overnight visitors to Dubai in the year 2016 exceeded 15 million. The tourism sector recorded a growth of 5% and a 4-year CAGR of 8%. The department is expecting that tourism in Dubai will grow further in order to maintain stable momentum over the next 3 years. The emirate tourism industry’s strong performance across the world assures achievement of the 20 million visitors target by 2020.

The leading sources of visitors and tourists to Dubai include India, KSA, UK, Oman and Pakistan.

There is also a significant rise in the hotel rooms’ supply in the market, and a decline in average room rates(10%). To cater the anticipated growth in the number of visitors to Dubai, the number of hotel rooms will be doubled (140,000 – 160,000) by 2020. The Dubai Expo 2020 will play an important role in boosting the tourism sector and the overall economic growth. It will serve as a catalyst in inspiring and attracting huge number of visitors from different parts of world. The Expo 2020 will provide the tourist a change to merge with global communities and cultures, enjoy exciting tourism attractions, and a number of popular activities in Dubai, including desert safari, sky adventure, city tours, sea adventure, and visits to water parks.
Tourism in Dubai is an important part of strategy of the government to maintain the flow of foreign investments and cash flows. Due to high economic impact of the tourism sector, the government is constantly putting efforts to strengthen and promote the sector.

Surprises Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) is held at 40 Dubai malls throughout the city and offers sensational discounts as well as activities and entertainment for the whole family. Attractions include a spa zone and inflatable games zone on the beach in front of Jumeirah Beach Residence and the nightly House of Illusions dinner show at the Spiegel Tent at Festival Centre.

Children’s art classes

Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre offers a range of children’s art workshops throughout the summer covering skills such as papier-mâché mask making, paper craft, drawing and painting. There are also summer camps for children and teens which cover a range of mediums.


Wires, Untitled & Drawings

An exhibition by contemporary photographers Rachel Rillo and Noelle Tan, Wires, Untitled & Drawings is the artists’ inaugural exhibition in Dubai. Both photographers were born and raised in Manila, Philippines, and studied fine arts in the US. Rillo’s work is featured in ‘Wires’, while Tan’s talent is showcased in ‘Untitled’ and ‘Drawings’.

A presentation of emerging artists from the vibrant post-globalised avant-garde scene, Seven Positions showcases young and courageous artists and their works. The result is an exciting mix of attitudes and styles that cross borders and genres.

Summer Exhibition

An eclectic mixture of contemporary works, incorporating conceptual, figurative and abstract art, this exhibition is sure to appeal on many levels. Works exhibited include humorous caricature pieces by Dubai-based American artist Julia Townsend, vivid expressionist works by Saudi Arabian artist Hussein Almohasen, dramatically worded conceptual art by Dubai based Colleen Quigley and fresh abstract canvases by Canadian artist Melanie Sarrasin.
